Gees Recycling represented REFRESH at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026, the leading global onshore and offshore wind energy event, bringing together stakeholders from across the entire wind energy value chain.

REFRESH joined the Wind Innovation Cluster Hub stand at the event on 22-25 September, along with project partners from VERTI-GO, LIGHTWIND, TWAIN, INF4INiTY, EOLIAN, TWINVEST, DTWO, and WHEEL.

Giorgio Betteto, R&D CTO at Gees, also presented an overview of REFRESH’s objectives and latest results during the Wind Innovation Cluster Hub Speakers’ Corner session on 22 September. During this session, an introduction to the Hub and its four working groups by Francisco Ngomo of PNO Innovation was followed by presentations from member projects outlining their key innovations and expected impact.

REFRESH is a member of the Hub’s Circularity, Sustainable and High-Performance Materials working group.

New solutions for blade circularity

REFRESH is preparing to exploit the results of four years of research. The project’s technologies cover the entire end-of-life blade value chain, from dismantling, cutting and sorting, through optimised recycling processes, to new products, supported by a traceability platform and sustainability analyses.

A key element of the project is Gees’ new 6000 tonne/year mechanical recycling line, which is currently being commissioned at its facility in Aviano, Italy. This will transform composite materials from end-of-life blades into panels for applications in construction and other markets. Read the WindEnergy Hamburg press release.

Save the date – REFRESH Closing Event

The full achievements of the project will be presented at the REFRESH closing event in Brussels on 2 December. Participants can also join online, and registration opens soon.
